When we were first given the challenge of thinking of the essential questions that fit our own lives I was immediatly worried because I didn't even know where to begin. But after making an effort to pay more attention to my life and the reading we have been reading in english I have thought of some possibilty's of potential essential questions.
-How should we live in this world? And how do I specifically?
-to survive only?, to make the world a better place?, better for others?
-What makes us/me happy?
-getting vs. giving?
-What is our purpose?
-To get the most out of life vs. put the most into it? Does religion greaten my experience of life?
-What is the balance of taking risks?
-are they worth it?, do I way risk and reward? doing potentially dangerous things (ex. sky diving) do things like that enhance life or are just too risky?
thats all for now but there will defiently be more...

Dear Lovely Leah,
I was having a hard time thinking of essential questions but it looks like you found some good ones! I agree with you that when we were first handed this assaignment I was stumped because the possiblities seemed endless, and too deep for me to start to explore. But after the reading on "Singers Solution..." and "The Gift" I definitely woke up to the things that are important in life vrs. the things that arent. I noticed that trend in your question. You often challenged yourself and whats morally correct with questions like "What makes us more happy? Getting or giving?". Thats actually a really hard question. I mean, I know that giving should be what makes me happy and should be what I focus on doing, but can I really deny that I enjoy recieving things? I wish I could but I cant, thats why I know I need to find a balance of the two (where the giving out weighs the getting). I also liked the question you asked about religion. I am Christian and I do believe that it helps greaten our expiriance. Maybe not because of the religion itself but because of the values and morals the religion provides me with. Charity, love, forgivness, acceptance, and many more help me live in a better way then I would with out them.
love, Bird.
